Prescription Processing Times

From the 5th of January 2026, prescription processing times at Honley Surgery will change to 72 working hours.

Please order your medication in good time to avoid running out — you can request prescriptions up to 10 days before they’re needed.

You can order your repeat prescription in the following ways:

• NHS App – the quickest and most convenient option
• Patient Access – if you are already registered online
• By dropping your repeat slip into the prescription box at the surgery
• Urgent requests place additional pressure on the surgery and wider NHS services. Planning ahead helps us keep you and others safe.

Why we’re making this change

Like many GP practices, we’re experiencing a significant increase in prescription requests and wider NHS workload pressures. Moving to a 72-hour turnaround allows our clinical and administrative teams time to safely review, authorise, and process prescriptions — reducing errors and ensuring patient safety while maintaining capacity for urgent clinical work.
